What are the 2x and 3x display options?

Plans that support this feature:Bootstrap, Startup, Enterprise, and VIP Plans

All of our paid plans (Bootstrap, Startup, and Enterprise) allow a user to create a timer URL that indicates that the timer should be rendered at 2x or 3x resolution for use with mobile responsive high-DPI displays.

To change these options, use the Paid Plan Options in the "View Embed Code" popup or on the Details page for the timer. The URL will update on the fly to include these options.

To get the most out of the Retina features, please keep these points in mind:

  • The base size of the timer should be the one you want to deliver to most users (normal DPI mobile users)
  • The 2x and 3x URL options should be applied via CSS that detects high DPI users
  • The 2x and 3x options are (as might be expected) about 2x and 3x the filesize and take longer to download to the user, so they should be used sparingly
  • We recommend only using the 2x option for retina users unless you have a very specific user base that can use the 3x option, just due to the larger size

You can serve up any mix of standard, 2x, and 3x URLs for the same timer. In fact, most recommended approaches would have both in a style section, so the email client or browser can pick the correct one for the screen type that the user views it on.
